More about the festival:
The fourth annual Now Or Neverland: Ode to Hip-Hop Art Festival during Art Basel weekend is hosted by MUCE. The fair includes an opening & closing reception, live performances, fashion, artist talks, and merchandising space for exhibiting artist.
Dates and Deadlines
Submission Deadline: September 2, 2018
Notification Date: Friday, October 7, 2018
Participation Acknowledgement Deadline: Friday, October 14, 2018 by 9PM
Delivery Deadline: Friday, November 16th, 2018
Exhibition Dates: December 6 – 9th, 2018
Pick-Up Deadline: Wednesday, December 19th, 2018, by 8PM
All selected works must be delivered November 12 – 16, 2018 and picked up no later than Wednesday, December 19th, 2018. MUCE is not responsible for any works after that date. The artists will be assessed a storage fee of $3 fee per day per piece beginning December 20, 2018.
If the work is be returned via a third party carrier, a prepaid return label should be provided no later than Monday December 10th, 2018 to be shipped no later than Wednesday December 19th. We will not accept credit card or shipping account information.
Fees: Once accepted, there is a non-refundable exhibition fee of $75.
Installation fee: If chosen to exhibit – there is a $10 non-refundable installation/hanging fee for each work accepted for exhibition. No exceptions.
Commission Fee: All exhibited work and merchandise sold during the exhibition will be subject to a 30% commission fee.
Participating artists are responsible for shipping of their work both to and from the exhibition.
Work In progress: We are open to works in progress. If you are considering developing new work specifically for Now or Neverland, you must also include a short description of concept, sketches of your design, images depicting previous works, intended size, cost and medium. You must also apply with a previous body of work, to provide the curator and jury context of your work.
If accepted to exhibit, the work in progress must be 100% complete and with final images submitted by October 21st at 11:59 pm. Any work in progress not complete with final images by October 8th will be disqualified. We reserve the right to refuse installation for any reason.
Size: There is no size limit to submissions. If proposing a site specific installation, a video or performance link to current & past work when submitting is required.
Installation-ready: Each accepted entry must be installation-ready, framed or encased, with appropriate hanging hardware and installation instructions, and clearly labeled with artist’s name and title of the work. Sculptures will be floor placed although some will be displayed on platforms. Test your framing/presentation before delivery. Please remember that the presentation of your work is as important as the object, and deserves extra care and consideration. MUCE retains the right to reject works from the exhibition at any time, at their discretion. All exhibition and installation fees are non refundable.
Exhibition Dates: December 6th- 9th, 2018.
Duration: Accepted work may not be withdrawn before the close of the exhibition on Sunday, December 9th, 2018
Insurance: MUCE will have event liability insurance. All artists are encouraged to provide additional insurance. The area will be under 24 hour surveillance during Art Basel weekend.
Photography: By submitting your work and if accepted, you give MUCE the right to use all submitted media for the purpose of marketing and advertisement for events including but not limited to the MUCE Now Or Neverland: Ode To Hip-Hop Exhibition. You also provide permission to use the likeness of you and/or your work (either video or photography) captured during the exhibition for marketing as we see fit. Submission to the fair shall act as acknowledgement of these terms.
