MUCE collaborates with Papa Keith for Summer Series Volume 1: People Matter Festival!

My first experience at the MUCE Summer Series Volume 1 is one that I will never forget. In collaboration with Papa Keith’s: People Matter Festival, the event was held in the heart of Liberty City at Athalie Range Park. Encouraging family fun and community engagement, the festival highlighted a MUCE exclusive pop-up gallery and family “Paint Party,” 24-hour cease fire, full-scale kid zone and DJ Battle!

First Impressions:

When I entered the MUCE gallery and lounge, I immediately gravitated towards Erica Appleby’s “The Golden Function.” A demonstration of beauty and power, the work of art fit well within the exhibitions overall theme of embracing cultural diversity while reflecting the movement of Summer. The MUCE exclusive pop-up gallery also featured the work of visual artists: Rodney Jackson, Wendell Pierre Louis, Anthony Lumpkin of Lavish and Looney, Hope Through Art, and Franks Christopher.

It’s A Party!

One of the most in-demand aspects of the festival was the MUCE family paint party. Led by visual artist Chivas Davis, guests received step-by-step instructions to paint a peace sign honoring the 24 Hour Cease Fire Campaign. Open to parents and children alike, MUCE curated three, free classes entertaining over 50 guests and quickly becoming a crowd favorite. One of the most exciting installations at the MUCE gallery was the life-sized game of Jenga! Festival goers gathered around this iconic game for some good ol’ fashioned family fun.

The Festival also highlighted an outrageous kid zone – seriously, the thing was HUGE!

An epic Old School DJ Battle between two of Miami’s hottest DJ’s (Pure Funk and Sugarhill )

And a slew of youth performance and events such as a 3 on 3 youth Basketball Tournament and an amazing performance from Non Stop Dancing. Check them out below!

Overall, the MUCE Summer Series Volume 1 event exceeded my expectations. I was exposed to a very welcoming community and was able to celebrate art and culture with my incredibly talented MUCE team.
